China Travel Visa

The Chinese tourist visa is applicable to Canadian passport holders whose place of birth is in China or the applicant's spouse, children, or parents live in the mainland, or the applicant needs to go to China to take care of or support elderly Chinese parents who really need to take care of them for other reasons. The general application for tourist visa is L visa (divided into single and multiple). The applicant's spouse and minor children under the age of 18 can apply for a visa together if they need to accompany them. (The visa is valid for up to ten years)

Basic requirements for application

Applicants who meet the following conditions can apply for multiple valid family visits or tourist visas (each time they enter China, they can live for six months or one year):

  • The applicant’s place of birth is "China" and has entered China more than twice in the past year

  • Applicant holds real estate in China

  • Applicants whose place of birth is "China" and need to go to China for medical treatment frequently

  • The applicant's spouse, children, or parents live in mainland China

  • The applicant’s place of birth is "China" and other personnel who need to travel to and from China frequently

  • Applicants have obtained multiple valid tourist visas for visiting relatives for more than half a year

  • Applicant's biometric fingerprint identification

  • Written certificate from hospital or doctor (if required)

  • Invitation letter from Chinese relatives to applicants

  • Old visa record (whether you have applied for a Chinese tourist visa)

  • Applicant's proof of enrollment (such as studying)

  • Applicant’s employer letter (including employer information)

  • Retirement certificate of the applicant’s pension (such as retirement)

  • Applicant's pay slip/tax return

  • Applicant's bank turnover in the past six months

  • Proof of funds: sufficient to cover the expenses of the applicant living in China

  • Applicant's travel itinerary plan readme

  • Application fee
